Design Process (1)

The topic of my group for design process module is LIVING SPACES ARE GETTING SMALLER
My group, XKY, did a mindmap  and research of what we think the problems are.

Overpopulation, government policy, land shortage , people lifestyle , money problems
came to our mind as the causes of this topic.

We think that land shortage and overpopulation  are the main problem of living spaces are getting smaller.

Land shortage
In small city there's not much land for construction ,which will lead it more to the construction of high buildings in the city.  It can't be deny that the buildings, houses, etc will be packed as the city doesn't have spacious land to built those that had a huge gap from one to another . ex: Singapore,Hongkong

Overpopulation
Overpopulated city will cause the demand of houses to increase and larger land will be needed to built them.  Cities that are so packed like Shanghai,New York,Jakarta, etc often have to face the traffic jam. Too many transportation in the cities. Apartments are built in strategical area to make people more comfortable going out.(not facing traffic jam).

Money problems  rich people buy luxurious house;lower economy people might buy
an affordable one which mostly is small.
Government policy: population policy in china which only allows to have one child.
People lifestyle : Overseas students mostly live in hostel or share apartments with others.
Working people / travelers that stay temporarily in a city will probably prefer to buy smaller space.

Our solutions:            (without thinking how much money needed)
-Maximize the space        -underwater life
-Reclaim land                   -outer space life
-Underground living
-build houses in deserted area
