With the demand that keeps increasing but little supply
available, Living area is shrunk gradually.
Limited spaces cause people to be difficult to create places that are
needed .A case study are conducted from the Space Generator Transformable
Platform by Maria Malitskaya and Grigory Malitsky who won A’ Design Award &
Competition,2012-2013 , to know how a space can be maximize the usage and be
multifunctional.
Space Generator Transformable Platform use the system of high
adjustable module jack plate that serves as cells. By adjusting the height of
the cells with the theory of hydraulic , pneumatic , and electric mean, enable the flat platform to be transformed
into three dimensional multi arrangement level which can create different
sectional design such as square, triangular, circular, etc. The concept is to
realize the virtual reality into visual or physical world in a
three-dimensional procedure.
The different between this transformable platform is that it seems that it could just be used temporarily. On the platform we couldn't put our stuffs that should stay there for long time. For example: If we set the platform to be a table, Stuffs are put on the table.When a person want to set the cells to form chairs. What will happen to the stuffs?
This is what we found as the bad side of transformable platform concept which is no storage. It is just effective for temporary place like theater or platform.
